Western Kentucky Navigation, Inc. was formed in 1985 in Paducah, KY. At the time it was a small western Kentucky town that is the hub of the inland waterways system. The confluence of the Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers with the Ohio River are within sight of the Paducah waterfront, and the confluence of the Upper and Lower Mississippi with the Ohio River are just forty miles downstream.
From this ideal location WKN has prospered and currently operates fourteen river towboats that range in horsepower from 4200 hp to 7000 hp. Our normal routes of operations are on the Upper and Lower Mississippi, Illinois and Ohio Rivers moving cargoes of oil and chemicals, also grains, scrap metals, steel, ores, salt and fertilizers.
WKN is a medium sized, yet progressive company that is focused on the safety of its employees, the environment, its equipment and its cargoes. It is because of our size and our focus on safety that we can maintain a close relationship with our employees.
